Thank you Aussiegirl, you have written a real gem here, well done!

It’s inspired a great deal of thoughtful and spirited commentary. What I have read here in both your essay and the comments of the readers for me at least, is too compelling to ignore. Since I don’t want to overstep the bounds of being a “good guest” and get all long-winded while commenting on a post (600+ words seemed a bit much to me) I’ve posted my thoughts at my own page, if you're interested you know where to find it.
