I'll have some Havarti with that freedom of the press, please!

By Aussiegirl

In case you missed it, Denmark is facing intense pressure from the Muslim world to apologize for and withdraw supposedly offensive cartoons published on its sovereign Danish territory and in its own Danish newspapers.

As Thomas Lifson so brilliantly points out in today's must-read column in the American Thinker, this is but one small step towards the Islamic goal of a global Caliphate governed by Sharia law. Evidently the Muslims feel they can censor the press anywhere in the world.

To its credit, one French newspaper has taken up the call to defend Western values of freedom of the press and has reprinted the cartoons in its own edition. This is perhaps the best way that the world can deal with this unprecedented situation.

So far the countries of the world, including the United States, have had precious little to say in this dispute in defense of Denmark. It's time for the newspapers of the world to print and reprint again these cartoons to make it clear that the world is not under Sharia law and we will not bend to the pressure to self-impose it through some sort of cultural and emotional blackmail brought to bear by the reflexively and perpetually offended Muslim world.

The other solution that Thomas recommends in his article is to buy Danish. Check out the article for Danish products available in the United States -- I personally love Havarti cheese, and Plumrose and Dak hams are some of the best. Why not a Danish Super Bowl party?

The American Thinker

In the heart of Old Europe, a loyal ally is standing firm for principles essential to the survival of western civilization. So far America has done nothing of substance to help Denmark stand up in the face of intense pressure to impose de facto censorship and profusely apologize for violating Sharia law on its sovereign territory.

The longstanding aim of jihadists is the establishment of a Global Caliphate, a world in which Sharia law will apply to all of humanity, and in which those who refuse to convert to Islam will live as inferior dhimmis, paying special taxes and lacking full political rights. Make no mistake: the attempt to bully Denmark into complying with Sharia prohibitions on publishing images of the Prophet Muhammad is part of a campaign to make Sharia the law of the world, in practice at first, codified later. The Global Jihad has been underway almost a millennium and a half, so a lengthy perspective is in order.

This is surely an alarming development in our continuing war with Moslems, especially in their arrogance in asking that we change our ways in our own countries. If they want to go backwards a thousand years and live like civilization never happened, why, let them--but why should they be allowed to cram their primitive ways down our throats? Here's a quote from this article: "These caricatures have really hurt us a lot, because they directly insulted our Prophet, who everyone knows as a messenger of peace and harmony between people, whatever their religion, faith or background,” the council said in a written statement. For a different portrait of this "Prophet", read this enlightening article: Islam Beheaded. Here's an opening paragraph from this article that certainly grabs your attention, and makes you perhaps a little more critical of the stuff that our enemies throw us: Muhammad's empire of faith has managed to thrive in the modern world for one simple reason: Muslims have kept Muhammad's dark past a secret. Indeed, they have gone beyond keeping it a secret; they have somehow convinced themselves (and many others) that Muhammad was an outstanding moral example, perhaps even the greatest moral example of all time. Perpetuating this fraud has been, in my opinion, the most stupendous deception in world history.
