Carol Weighs In

Whenever I worry I always can rely on my personal philosopher, aka Carol, to help me out with some pearls of wisdom in an email -- here's her take on last night's debate.

I don't know how this panel gets its money; but the "presidential debates" comes out of some university ... so, yeah, it's all biased. Does it matter? It's like you're walking into a Catholic Church, and you're upset that the Pope has some kind of say in the liturgy.

Anyway, I think the debates are gonna tank out. The other part is how many people will watch next time. This one was viewed for the potential for train wreck. But then, we didn't get it when Bill got caught in the Oval Office shoving Monica with a cigar up her paris, france ... So why expect a new set of rules, here?

I think most people don't even understand "intellectual nuances" ... so either you believe we're fighting and it's patriotic across America. Or you're into the strange Ivory Tower language that goes over big with the viewers of PBS and Jim Lehrer. (I don't want to admit how long it's been since I've even seen him on TV. It's just that I know what "Meet the Depressed" references). And, it's like frogs legs to McDonald's. Most people don't go there.
Most people kind'a like the "average guy status" of our president, anyway.
As to the format, heck ... if it were symphonic, you'd be able to label it. Romantic, to the more modern and unlistenable stuff ... that's atonal. But very few people actually like this stuff.

Tonight, at least, Kerry kept his voters on college campuses happy. I don't think he'll fare well on the blogs ... Given how the LIES can be removed from the lack of substance ...

And, what did strike me as he talked is that he was capable of saying exactly NOTHING! He'd finish a sentence, and I didn't remember what he said ... unless of course it was a core piece that he didn't like Bush's positions.

And, his, which have never been tested, would be "different." Yup. He and the mullahs can get all of this straightened out. Just watch.

Bush gave an excellent closing. And, at some point ... close to the first hour being up ... he began to feel his stride. HE WAS NERVOUS! Which leads me to believe he knew he was on enemy territory. And, he was concerned about the digs Kerry would get away with. TIll the end. And, Jim Lehrer had to eat his last, nasty, question.

What gets reviewed ahead? No one on the Bush team is going to let Bush shed votes! So, ferget about that.

If they feel Bush is dead-ending on the debates they'll have to deal with it. But Bush meets people, including diplomats, every day ... And, every day he is peppered with these questions ... Plus, he gets phone calls. He, not Kerry, gets calls from Putin. "Vladimir."

By the way, the terrorists newest gambits is to get TV time blowing up children. So, separate from Beslan, we now have the babies killed in Israel through Kassim rockets. And, Iraq. Where kids were coming to play football with Americans. Something's got to be done. But don't ask me for solutions. Because savages are savages. And, you really don't want to have to govern them at all. (Notice how Israel wants out of Gaza?) And, we want out of Iraq? Because the long term poison is to allow these idiots to depend on us to make their streets safe. Nope.

There are no easy answers. But force, applied well, will work out. And, the American People have to give this to Bush. It's not the other way around. He doesn't have to convince us. We have to convince the world we're serious. And, I think this nation, on the whole, IS.

I think one of the reasons for the debates is that AFTER the win, no one will accuse Bush of running from this fight. He took it to the American people. And, they don't score debates the way the effete liberals do. You'll see.

Listen to Rush in the morning. You'll see, you'll feel better. Kerry is the reason contracts are written with pauses in them for BUYER'S REMORSE. Yes, Kerry is a very effective LIAR. Why are we surprised? He's convinced two women with money to marry him. You think it's easy closing those sales?

Nice Bush touch. Telling Kerry that he "respected him and his service." And, how nice his daughters were to his own daughters. Very personable stuff. (At the end, I didn't see TeRAYza stagger about the stage ... but I did see her try to hold onto Laura Bush! Like she wanted to leave the stage with Laura! Not hubby. It made me laugh.) CAROL
