Australia to become Chinese colony according to defector

Another Chinese defector has claimed China is attempting to turn Australia into a "political colony".

Former law professor at Peking University, Yuan Hongbing, has supported claims of a large spy network operating in Australia.
The dissident Chinese writer was jailed and then exiled for helping student activists after the Tiananmen Square massacre.
He filed for a protection visa in Australia while leading a tourist trip last July.

Speaking through an interpreter, he told ABC's Radio National the reason China sends so many spies to Australia is to turn the country into a political colony of China.
"The political colony means CCP [Chinese Communist Party] will use their ideology to influence Australia's politics and gradually to turn Australia to betray its fundamental principle of freedom and democracy," he said.

He says he witnessed the work of the 1,000 spies defecting Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin has spoken about.
